Education

The children call this their little red school house; their parents understand it is early education at its finest; grandparents call it Sunday School on Weekdays.  Twenty years ago our preschool was independently established by a group of local early childhood educators who believed that our area was in need of a more creative and challenging experience for youngsters ages 3-5. We are committed to helping young people achieve success by instilling in them a life-long love for learning, Nature, and God.

Every child is different, but they all either start school loving or hating it and end, loving or hating it.  In the midst of our Gardens and Living History Farm, we attempt to instill God’s love for all, especially the love of life-long learning.  We strive to offer child-centered activities that will support and encourage various learning styles. We provide an environment where children can use their imagination for exploration, sharing of ideas and discoveries and initiating interaction with others.  We work in small groups to ensure that each child’s needs are met.  And we provide a safe, structured, nurturing environment in order to allow each child to find his or her highest level of learning success.  More: >

The Botanical Gardens Curriculum is designed as an outdoor 2 hour “lab” circling the gardens on a level boardwalk, stopping for 4′ at each rainy-day kiosk (undercover) and walking 2′ to the next (16 kiosks in all = 96′ ).  There is no admission charge and we encourage students (of any age) to consider the stories of the native plants that covered this land 150 years ago, the birds and the butterflies that once flew here, the holocaust stories of this period (Native American, Armenian, Jewish, etc.) and even the story of the Apostles who knew certain, terrible death awaited them in 1 or 2 years’ time because of their witness but told the Story anyway.
