Ospreys are predatory birds found on all but one continent (the same species that is, with their eastern osprey cousin found in Australia). Beautiful and deadly, the muscles in their feet actually pull to the side, their ankle bones being like ratchets, interlocking spurs that cannot “slip.” Once in their grasp a victim cannot wrestle free. Fish make up 99% of its diet although it may feed on small rodents, frogs, other birds, etc.
