Sego Lily is the State Flower of Utah.   It is a food source for butterflies, and many other insects and birds. Pilchuck Learning Center’s sponsored Western Washington State University SAM Project and iNatrualist such its extinction possibility is slight; abundant, native to the Sothern Rocky Mountain Floristic Region.

It also served as an “ethnobotanical” for the Native Indigenous.  PLC courses limit their presentations of Utah’s Indigenous to the Goshute, Navajo, Paiute, Shoshone and, Ute Peoples because of the plants and animals that are part of the Rocky Mountain Floristic Region.  Other terms for “plants and animals” living in a particular region or environmental situation are:

living vs. non-living
