Correct!
It used to be the rivers and streams of the Northwest were flanked by Western Redcedar whose inner needles turn red in October and then shed. This led to the region’s streams running red (“red stream” = Pilchuck) in the Autumn. When Douglas Fir (and Red Alder) needles and leaves fall to the ground, the streams now run. One wonders if the salmon sense the difference.
