Fireweed, also called Common Fireweed, is most likely found in areas that are moist and open. An herb and a member of the Onagraceae Family, it grows by Kiosk 05 and elsewhere it should decide. Pilchuck Learning Center’s sponsored Western Washington State University SAM Project extinction possibility is slight; unlikely to be extinct soon as it is found in other areas of North America and Europe. Found throughout Alaska and the North, when the flowers reach the top of the stem, Summer is said to be over. In Oregon and Washington, it blooms from May to September. Because it appears in roughed up areas, in England after WW II it was called the Bomb Flower.
