Dandelion

Much loved, but not a native species.

One of the earliest wagons coming down the Oregon Trail carried seeds so that the ladies did not become lonely. 

Thus the dandelions made it into the hearts and lawns of future generations of residents of the Pacific Northwest.  Used for food (salads) and decorations, it makes one chose between green and yellow for a front lawn.  All parts of the Dandelion can be eaten (see the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal publication’s URL below.
