Some base their life decisions on numbers, we call them “scientists.” Others read, consider, and parse words (e.g., clone vs. cultivar that prohibits certain colorful native vine maples in Bonhoeffer Gardens wetlands) in making decisions and we call them “sensible.” Others make life decisions on “beliefs” that are as complex as a human brain neuron transmitting colors of a rainbow. The former, scientists and wordsmiths (e.g., lawyers, legislators, teachers) are not solving the problems of a species that is creating its own extinction. Some appear to be leading the ruination of the Earth; old men and women mumbling numbers and words the young barely hear; words without exhibited actions. PLC believes it is for the Old Testament, Bible based religions to lead in the need to “care for the Earth.” Religious beliefs shape one’s behaviors and organized religions’ daily and weekly silence in today’s time of extinction is deafening. If every church, synagogue, and mosque focused on Genesis 2:15 for 20 seconds each Day of Worship, if Christians voiced a modern Green Creed attesting to all they believe … behaviors would naturally change. Scientists and secularists cannot force humans to change, change occurs when willingly done by those who believe it is the right thing to do. And it doesn’t hurt to talk with God now and then. As Quanah Parker, Comanche Chief, Founder of the Native American Church once observed, “the White Man goes into his church and talks about Jesus. The Indian goes into his tepee and talks with Jesus.”
